Edible Institute Discusses Sustainability

The Edible Institute 2010: Celebrating Sustainable Ideas will be held Jan. 28 at the Bishops Lodge Ranch, Resort Hotel and Spa in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

This is the first Edible Institute, a gathering of influential writers, thinkers, and eaters from around the country organized by Edible Communities Publications. In Raleigh, you may be familiar with Edible Piedmont.

The event will include Fred Kirschenmann, Distinguished Fellow for the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture discussing Why Sustainability Matters; a panel discussion on Journalists Telling Sustainable, Organic, Local, and Ethical Stories and Tom Philpott, food editor for Grist and Maisie Greenawalt, Vice President and Director of Communications & Strategic Initiatives at Bon Appetit Management Company. They will discuss why labor and human rights issues have yet to make an impact on the sustainable food movement.
