I went with Drew and Chip to the Hiabchi Grill for lunch recently and was surprised by the supreme buffet and its $6.59 price.
The restaurant is at 3131 Capital Boulevard in Raleigh in the shopping center where Comp USA and Sam Ash Guitars are located. The space once housed a large unfinished furniture showroom. Several months ago it became the new home of the Hiabchi Grill.
When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted and seated walking through the buffet area that features 10 different serving islands laden with food. While the buffet offers traditional Chinese fare, you will also find a variety of salads, entrees and desserts.
Beyond the buffet serving area is the Hibachi Grill where you can select from a number of items, combine them in a bowl and provide them to the grill chef. Its prepared while you watch. To the right of the grill is a sushi buffet with a continuing supply of rolls, one of the busiest places in the restaurant.
In the several times I’ve visited, I’ve stayed mainly with the Asian buffet. Drew spends much of his time at the sushi buffet. There is a wide choice of food and it is well prepared and offered at a great price.
I’ve always enjoyed the Crystal Palace which is several blocks down Capital Boulevard for its Asian Buffet and I like the quality of their food better. But the additional offerings and low price have drawn my lunch time group back to Hibachi Grill several times.
The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m and an hour later on Friday and Saturday nights.
