It was a busy day at church on Sunday. They had the alternative market in the northex sponsored by Larry’s Beans, 10,000 Villages and others to give church members a chance for some Christmas shopping. I picked up a couple of bags of Larry’s Guatemalan for gifts.
In the sanctuary, chairs were filled with Advent Calendars from Stop Hunger Now. The calendar offers opportunities to consider important Bible verses, as well as offers ideas for addressing hunger. Along with the calendars were Operation Sharehouse bags used for packaging fortified rice-soy meal. The calendar encourages several times over the course of Advent that your family make donations that can be collected in the bag and returned to the church as a donation to Stop Hunger Now.
Finally, this Sunday was the last for Mr. Jim who has led children’s programming at the church for 10 years. He’s moving with his family to Pennsylvania. His concern for children and leadership will be missed.
