One in eight Americans… families, children, the elderly… struggle with hunger in our community. As unemployment and poverty numbers rise, more folks are finding themselves making difficult choices: paying for food or paying for rent… paying for groceries or paying for medicine. More of our neighbors are going hungry.
You can help by joining the Food Bank for Hunger Action Month throughout September! Take part in the “Give a Little, Feed a Lot” campaign and help feed more Americans than ever before. Along with Feeding America, the national network of food banks, take action by giving just a little of yourself: a little time, a little money, a little voice, to help feed your hungry neighbors.
Here is how you can get involved:
Give a Little Money– Donate what you typically spend on lunch. For every dollar donated, we can provide $8 worth of food or 4 meals. Give a little, we’ll make sure it feeds a lot.
Give a Little Time– Volunteer for a few hours, a day or a week. Last year, our volunteers logged over 127,000 hours of service; equivalent to over 51 full-time employees!
Give a Little Voice– Attend one or more of our Hunger Action Month events and encourage your company, church or neighborhood to get involved!
Help support the nearly 480,000 individuals who are suffering from hunger in the food bank’s 34 county service area. Participate in Hunger Action Month! Together, we can have an immediate and profound effect on our communities.
