Two NC farmers markets among national favorites

American Farmland Trust completed the voting for America’s Favorite Farmers Markets.

NC had farmers markets in the running. The competition allowed people to vote online for their favorite farmers markets and rated top vote getters in categories of small, medium and large based on their number of vendors.

Collingswood farmers market in Collingswood, NJ was tops among small markets with 1,031 votes. Williamsburg farmers market in Williamsburg, Va was tops among medium markets with 725 votes. Davis farmers market in Davis, CA was tops among large markets with 3,064 votes.

Two NC farmers markets made the large market Top 20. Durham farmers market was rated 15 with 139 votes. The Carrboro farmers market was rated 17 with 118 votes.

For a number of weeks, the Columbus farmers market in Whiteville, NC was in the running in the small market, but by the final vote it had fallen out of the Top 20.
