The NC House quickly moved to pass the Sustainable Food Policy/Council bill after the House Ag committee reported it out yesterday. Passage by the House now returns the measure to the NC Senate where Sen. Albertson, the bill’s author can guide its future.
Time is running out in this legislative session. Once the budget is passed, lawmakers begin to wind down a session. That process is underway.
Contact Sen. Albertson and encourage him to get the bill through now to help NC’s small farms as they work to find avenues to sell their produce to farmers markets, groceries, restaurants and through CSAs. The bill establishes a council to help strengthen the state’s sustainable food economy.
