I was at the Char Grill last night, inspired by N&O restaurant reviewer Greg Cox’s list of places to get a hot dog. A hot dog with cheese, chili and cole slaw. It was delicious. I took my time and savored each bite.
That’s not what’s happening today at Nathan’s Hot Dogs in NY. That’s headquarters for the July 4 International Hot Dog Eating Competition. Here’s the news release:
Nathan’s Famous, Inc. has announced that its annual July Fourth International Hot Dog Eating Contest will return for the 94th year at the company’s flagship store in Coney Island on July 4, 2009. The event, which has become an integral part of America’s celebration of Independence Day, will pit two-time champion Joey Chestnut against six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi.
You can find more on the competition here.

You have to want chestnut to win, just for the comedy name value.
